Vertigo

Dizziness, Motion Sickness

Vertigo is a name given to a chronic functional problem where the patient suffers from the sensation of movement, even though they may be at rest. This may worsen with movement of the head or with change in position.

Many people also suffer from nausea or weakness when this comes one.

Vertigo may have various causative factors. Some of the contributing causes may be high levels of oxidative stress, malnutrition, vitamin deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, metabolic imbalances , food allergies, excessive stress, sinus problems and poor glycemic control. Structural imbalances (like spinal misalignments) may be part of the problem as well.

Symptomatic treatment may be helpful, but the underlying cause of the problem should be addressed. Only finding and treating the root cause of the problem will lead to a successful outcome.

Patients that suffer from vertigo must pay very close attention to their diets. Excessive sugars and refined carbohydrates are often problematic.

Foods that can contribute to inflammation (see prostaglandin imbalance diet) should be avoided as well.

Many of these patients will benefit from a comprehensive physical therapy or chiropractic evaluation and treatment to address structural imbalances.

Dietary Recommendations

  • Avoid toxins in the diet
  • Eat a balanced diet
  • Prostaglandin Imbalance Diet
